Looking for a advice on Antarctic cruise/expedition ship

Main Post:

Hi everyone!

My wife and me are looking for offers to go to the Antarctica with the following features:

• around January, February 2026 • A ship that wouldn’t host more than 180 customers, preferably less (to ensure frequent landings) • Includes South Georgia and the Antarctic peninsula • includes the option to do kayakig and hiking (not a must but very nice to have) and walking into ice caves/ice climbing (nice to have) • trip has educative character/frequent lectures on wildlife, environment, etc. • a tour provider that is respectful towards the Antarctic environment

We’ve looked at the company oceanwide which were the closest to what we were looking for. They offer a so-called base camp trip (with loads of activities whcih we like) but then they don’t go to South Georgia. And then they offer trip whcih include South Georgia but then you can’t do kayaking.

My wife and me woukd be super thankful for any advice!!

Top Comment: I would definitely talk to an agent who specialises in Antarctic cruise trips. You won’t pay more by booking though an agent and in some cases could pay a bit less. You could also try asking this same question in r/AntarcticaTravel which really focuses on this kind of question so you might get a couple more answers.

Royal Caribbean is dropping Ben & Jerry's ice cream from its cruise ships

Main Post: Royal Caribbean is dropping Ben & Jerry's ice cream from its cruise ships

Top Comment: I feel bad for the people who already booked the special Ben & Jerry's suite, expecting all the cow decor, the daily free ice cream and access to the suite lounge. I wonder what the compensation will be or if those who already book that particular room will be SOL.

MSC Cruises - Want a fancy drinks package, bus seriously, no soft serve ice cream?

Main Post:

seems to be the case that only NON-alocoholic ones have soft serve ice cream included. but wanted to see if a recent cruiser could confirm. do they actually enforce this? how would they if my kid can still get it?

also i searched for "simple questions" thread and the last one i see is 8 months old...

Top Comment:

Should be soft serve by the pool, no drink package needed. Is that your question?

Skating Rinks on Cruises?

Main Post:

My family is planning a vacation for next year and told me that the cruise they're looking at (Royal Caribbean Adventure of the Seas) has a rink on it. I anticipate that being where I will be when my family stresses me out.

Have any of you skated on a cruise? What is it like? Is the ice real?!

Top Comment: Hey friend! It’s totally real ice! I was a skater on a Royal Caribbean ship, Voyager of the Seas. Your cruise Compass (info of events going on that day) will let you know when shows are happening, as well as when the rink is open to the public. The skaters will be there working the open ice so you can say hi and even ask any questions you might have! You might have to wear a helmet, if I remember correctly every ship is slightly different. On my ship helmets were required. Let me know if you have any other questions, and have a great time!

Cruising on the Norwegian Breakaway today. Any tips?

Main Post:

I’m heading out on a 7-day cruise on the Norwegian Breakaway starting today. I’m super excited but also feeling a bit overwhelmed with all the options and activities on board. Any tips or must-dos from those who have been on her before?

Can anyone explain what exactly the "Premium desserts" are when you get princess plus or premiere? Do they serve them in the MDR? I haven't seen *anyone* post pictures of them.

Does anyone have recommendations for an Alaska + Hawaii all in one cruise?

Main Post: Does anyone have recommendations for an Alaska + Hawaii all in one cruise?

Top Comment: This would be a rare cruise to do both. You would have to hope for a cruise line either just before or just after the Alaska season decide to a cruise to Hawaii. To see the northern lights in Alaska, I recommend to do a land tour, as it will be darker and you will see them more clearly. Also over in Scandinavia you are more like to see them. There is never a guarantee when they will appear. To see the glory of Hawaii, I also suggest a land tour also or to use a NCL Norwegian Pride to see the Islands and cut off 7-8 days of just ocean. Oahu, Maui, and the Big Island are the ones you should hit. You could easily spend a week on each and only scratch the surface. Congrats on getting married. Have fun on your honeymoon.
